Our Story

The vision of Love Revolution was launched by Faith Harvest in September of 2015. We began raising funds in order to purchase land close to Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic. Several trips to the DR were made in 2016 to look for property for our first Love Revolution site. In late 2016, we made an offer on a beautiful 15 acre parcel of land. Our lawyer did his due diligence to check the title for the land and found a clerical mistake that made the process even slower. 2017 rolled in and we were still waiting to see what would happen with this property.

But then we were asked to take over a children’s home that was established in the DR in 1985. This home of 34 children would now come under the leadership of Love Revolution. The process to make our San Juan de la Maguana site official started in February 2017. The heart of LR is to connect kids to a family, so our first task was to evaluate the changes necessary to convert this established orphanage to a family style model. Renovations to the current buildings began in the spring, and four individual homes were move-in ready in August. One home houses our boys 18 and older and prepares them for independent living. In this home, the boys do the cleaning, laundry and majority of the cooking. Our three other homes are set up as individual family units with the cooking and daily activities being decided within the home. We hired our first husband and wife team in August 2017. As of July 2018, each of the 3 homes are parented by a husband and wife team.
